Just walk up to the Upper Muny Parking Lot to buy tickets for Microfest. Add $5 to the online ticket price and that’s what you pay at the gate (except Designated Driver tickets).

Announcing Beers to be Premiered @Microfest

Beer enthusiasts throughout the region are getting a sneak peak at micro brews that will be unveiled at this year’s Microfest, which takes place in the Upper Muny Parking Lot of Forest Park on May 6, 7 and 8th.

Special brews making their debut this year at Microfest include:
• Ovila Dubbel, a collaboration between Sierra Nevada Brewery and the monks at the Abbey of New Clairvoux in Vina, California will be offered in the VIP tent.
• From Odell Brewery, the newly released and highly sought after Myrcenary Double IPA will be offered in general admission.
• Also from Odell’s, the seasonal favorite St. Lupulin Extra Pale Ale will make its summer premier in the general admission.
• From Bell’s Brewery, a special reserved keg of Hell Hath No Fury will be featured in the VIP tent, an item not released to the public this past year.
• Other new brews include: ShockTop Raspberry, and three styles of Alexander Keith’s.

Craig Heisner is currently the Brewmaster for AB-Inbev’s North American Research Pilot Brewery. He has been in the brewing industry for 14 years which includes experience in Germany and the United States.

Rebecca Reid is a brewmaster in the Innovation and Technical Development Group at AB-Inbev. She has been in the brewing industry for six years.

Chef Kenny is a St. Louis native who was a Golden Gloves amatuer boxer as a local, state and regional champ. While working in a kitchen at Union Stations, he realized his new love of cooking. He worked under a few CIA graduates and several of the top country clubs in St. Louis including Racquel Club Ladue, Forest Hills, St. Albans, Meadowbrooks and the Junior League of St. Louis. Now he is the Chef at Lift For Life Academy where he serves healthy, upscale food everyday.

Let Free State Brewery Chef Rick Martin guide you through three courses of tasty, seasonal bites paired with Free State Beers while he explains some easy tips for matching food with beer. On the menu will be grilled, local asparagus wrapped in La Quercia ham, Oatmeal Stout pork slider with homemade pickles, and hopped chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream.

Rick Martin is the Executive Chef of Free State Brewing Company in Lawrence, Kansas, the first legal brewery in Kansas since before prohibition. In his 19 years at Free State, Rick has created an inviting menu of rustic beer cuisine and inverted interestingly new ways of pairing food with beer and spirits. He’s provided simple yet exciting views on beer and food during cooking performances at the Great American Beer Festival and his recipes are featured in Lucy Saunders’ recent book, “The Best of American Beer and Food.” He’s served as a featured speaker at the 2008 Craft Beer Conference in San Diego, Savor: An American Craft Beer and Food Experience in Washington, D.C. and performs annually at Great Taste of the Midwest in Madison, Wisconsin, and Wichita’s Midwest Beer Festival. A self-taught chef that cooked most meals for his family by the age of 10, Rick believes in a simple, fundamentally sound style of cooking. He shows deep-rooted passions for utilizing locally grown foods and supporting Farm to School programs. Rick enjoys serving his community as a board member for the Community Mercantile Education Foundation, as a member of the Douglas County Food Policy Council and as a steering committee member of the Lawrence Community and Learning Garden–a student vegetable gardening project at Free State High School.

Bob Baile

Bob Baile has been the owner and president of Twisted Pine Brewing since 1996 when he purchased the company from its founder, Gordon Knight. Prior to becoming a business owner, Bob spent almost 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry as a research chemist where his duties were similar to that of a brewmaster only instead of making beer, he made drugs. Bob also spent 15 years as a volunteer firefighter and was a lieutenant with High Country Fire Department. Bob lives in Boulder with his wife Alexis.
